Ifé\, un jeune nageur prodige et dernier descendant d’une lignée marquée par l’Histoire\, entreprend de traverser à la nage l’océan Atlantique de Salvador de Bahia jusqu’à Ouidah. Sa mission est de déposer les cendres de sa mère\, Isadora\, sur leur terre d’origine. Au cours de ce périple\, Ifé entend les échos de Ouidah et les voix de ses ancêtres brésilo-dahoméennes\, les augoudas du Bénin : Amélia\, Magdaléna\, Estrela. En nageant\, il fait surgir leurs chants et leur sens.
